The Komiya smiths are well known in Japan both for their art swords and for their swords for serious martial arts training. This is an art sword by Yasumitsu and is a "reflection" piece of the very famous work of Kiyomaro. Kiyomaro was famous for his incredible hada and hamon and Yasumitsu has captured the essence of his work in this wonderful sword. There is a lifetime of activity to study in this one sword.

The sword is signed "Miike JU Shirou Yasumitsu Saku/ Heisei 12 nen 1 gatsu Kichi jitsu" and is 2 shaku, 5 sun long (29.5" nagasa). It is a big, imposing blade with serious presence.

The sword comes in honoki shirasaya and has a gold foiled 2-piece habaki.

Work of this caliber is often hard to come by in the US. But increasingly US collectors are becoming aware of the tremendous skill now being shown by the newest generation of swordsmiths in Japan. Some of these smiths are creating works that rival the great works of old. So not only do you get an amazing sword, but you get to see how they would have looked "brand new" in their very first, flawless polish. Blades at this level of refinement are truly a joy to study.
