This is a great chance to own a top notch shinsakuto at an entry level price. This katana was forged by Kunimitsu II and is in the smith's rough finish. In other words, it has not been polished nor does it have a habaki or shirasaya.

The nakago has been signed with confidence and vigor. It is signed omote: Chikushu ju Kunimitsu Saku

The sword is dated ura: Heisei Jukyu Nen Roku Gatsu Jitsu  (A day in June, 2007)

A light window has been polished into the blade to show the hamon and hada of this imposing gendaito. You can see the lovely choji hamon, deep ashi, and the hints of the tight itame hada.

When properly polished this sword will have a very appealing extended chu kissaki.

This is a rather unique chance to buy into a high quality shinsakuto without having to pay for the polish, habaki and shirasaya up front. For someone who is looking for a training blade of very high quality this would be a good candidate for putting into a "user" polish and mounting. Given the beauty of the hamon and hada this would also be a great candidate for a full art polish at some point.

It is not easy to get unpolished shinsakuto of this caliber out of Japan. So this is an unusual opportunity for someone who wants to invest less up front then invest their time in getting the polish at a later date.
